What a nice guy.
I always liked buying stuff for my kids, but once it was encouraged by the boss that teachers do nice stuff like this it kind of ruined it, but hey I was never doing it for boss points anyway. |

Kids have no need to beg food off me. School furnishes lunch for our morning crew, plus daily snacks and beverages for the elementary kids. I do give 'em popcorn whenever entire classes earns A's/B's on monthly tests, and I spring for pizza for the class with the highest overall grades at the end of each semester, but nothing that's going to break the bank.
As for being on the receiving end of food gifts? The individually-wrapped candies get "recycled" and re-distributed to kids who perform particularly well on speaking activities. Bread and cookies are shared with the class. Cakes go home with the Korean teachers or to our sister school where they'll actually get eaten. Pizza goes on the table in the teachers' room for everyone to share. Beverages go in the school refrigerator. Kimchi comes home with me. |

I buy snacks, usually choco-pies or chocolate chip cookies, for my classes sometimes, especially my 10:00 P.M. class. They never ever ask (university students) but when I break out the choco-pies they all say they are sooo hungry. It's cool to make someone really smile for so little effort.

That highschool must be huge.
My highschool only has 24 different classes total combining all 3 years.
I only see 8 different classes 2x a week. Makes a big difference. Sometimes I have given kids food. Like when they tell me they missed lunch I'll feel sorry for them and check my desk for snacks.
Candy is good for games...especially if you have classes around meal times. The kids focus a lot more on the candy |

I feed them. Especially, the classes that are around meal times.
It is my opinion that if they are hungry, they can't concentrate well.
It has worked well and I now have a budget to buy snacks and whatever. |

| You could just buy a big bag of chillies, the hot ones, and give them to the kids when they ask for food. That will probably stop them. |

mine are between 40 and 44 . I buy a big bag of cheap candy, for 3000 won from my local super and it usually lasts about a month. but if we are having a special activity thne sometimes I will bring in chocopies. but no more than once a semester and with my 1st and 2nd grade students as my 3rd years suck. |

yea.. 3rd graders do suck.. they think they are too important for an english lesson... i don't have them thankfully... i had them last year when they were 2nd graders (of course) and it is amazing how big their heads get once becoming a senior.. some are still great but it is suprising how many change their tune.
i'm too stupid to buy candy.. i just buy box after box of cake type things..
no wonder i am broke |

Bring in bondegi and give that out.
It would be nice to feed hungry kids around meal times, but that is not my problem. It's a problem with the system here in Korea. I can not save the world alone. |
