AQ is behind the times

| If the best al-Qaeda's remaining cells can do is hide PETN, a 19th-century explosive, inside a printer cartridge, then perhaps we have already succeeded - far more than we usually realize - in destabilizing at least this particular terrorist threat. We should continue to support the security services and counterterrorism experts who prevented this tragedy and who will prevent others. But we shouldn't let al-Qaeda take too much public attention, diplomatic energy and government funding from the more complicated, and more dangerous, challenges of the future. |

Is this the same Al Qaeda that is supposed to have those four aircraft, defeating air defense systems of the greatest military ever put together on the planet, and destroyed the headquarters of that military and the NY towers? They could do that, and now can't even hide stuff in a cartridge??
Must be a different one. |
They've lost the element of surprise. Shadow of war, etc. Basic premises of warfare the truthers can't grasp.
Anyway, I agree with the consensus. Let's isolate the country until they get their act together, and in the meantime treat terrorism as a police matter. |

Yes yes, the truthers don't grasp that. I agree. Do you grasp that on 9/11/01 several Israeli citizens with bombs in vans near bridges were arrested, interrogated with polygraphs - failed the polygraphs - and then returned to Israel? Dan Rather reported it. So did Fox News. Then this happened:

The attack against Cameron and Fox News was spearheaded by a pro-Israel lobby group called the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA), which operated in tandem with the two most highly visible powerhouse Israel lobbyists, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (itself currently embroiled in a spy scandal connected to the Defense Department and Israeli Embassy).
"CAMERA peppered the *** out of us." According to a source at Fox News Channel, the president of the ADL, Abraham Foxman, telephoned executives at Fox News' parent, News Corp., to demand a sit-down in the wake of the Cameron reportage. The source said that Foxman told the News Corp. executives, "Look, you guys have generally been pretty fair to Israel. What are you doing putting this stuff out there? You're killing us." The Fox News source continued, "As good old boys will do over coffee in Manhattan, it was like, well, what can we do about this? Finally, Fox News said, 'Stop the e-mailing. Stop slamming us. Stop being in our face, and we'll stop being in your faceby way of taking our story down off the web. We will not retract it; we will not disavow it; we stand by it. But we will at least take it off the web.'" Following this meeting, within four days of the posting of Cameron's series on Fox News.com, the transcripts disappeared, replaced by the message, "This story no longer exists."[Ketcham] |

From that, you can see that the demands of Israel are more important than a full understanding of 9/11 - which is why you don't have one (and neither do I).
It is not possible to speak about 9/11 with confidence. So let's not do that eh. That Israeli nationals had bombs on 9/11 is factual. That Israel has a history of blowing thing up (or attacking ships) and blaming the bombs on others so as to get a war going is also factual. The fog of war might still be upon us.

How about the US stops bombing it. |

The bombing does not create the problems, rather the bombing follows the problems. Nevertheless, I agree we should stop bombing it, hence my language about dropping the war on terror and resuming the enterprise under an international police action rubric, subject to some sort of standards of law. |
