what's a bomb game? I tried looking it up but couldn't find out.

BAAM would be an example. There are dozens of pre made games.

Thanks for that info. Fishead. I didn't know anyone else had made a bomb game in ppt or is it in ppt???? Is it like BAAM? I thought my creation was pretty unique. Here's an example

My first version of BAAM didn't go over too well but I like it. It was all bloody and about "murder" - based on the much feted "Mafia" game. Here it is. Also, this early one. Little Gun/Big Gun. Oh how time has flown!

there is also a "Monster" game that is a few years old, making the circuit. Pretty cute.

I do about one a month or one every two "Units". I try to vary it up with lots of games- In general the first lesson is writing and looking at the vocab, lots of visual and recall and the 2nd lesson is writing and application

My students seem to respond well to jeopardy-type games where some of the options are not based on the textbook material, but are making lists/guessing things, in which they get to access the English they already know (as opposed to just learning).

So for example, one question might be "name 5 body parts" and I just call on the students who put up their hands first (whereas most of the questions are regurgitating the target phrase).

When you guys were students (assuming a decent education) how often did your teachers play bomb games? Bingo? Or godforbid, hangman?

Not often, but when I was in elementary school I never met the Chinese teacher once a week as later classes did. I hear he spoke little to no English and was told at his orientation not to bore us.
