Sounds like a load of masochists here. Last year it's got an A- rating. This year an F..... and...... everyone wants in? |

It doesn't seem to be changing from the F either. |

Nah, there ain't no mad rush to get in...there are spots available if you don't mind the boonies. Some people are so fed up w/hakwans that they'll give EPIK a shot( "F" & all!). In the last 2 years EPIK offered 400 newbie positions but only 180 took them up on it. I doubt they'll get many more than a 100 this summer too. |

Good luck to all new Epiksters, after 3 years I'm bailing with a hugh wad of loot.
Mosley, is right about many of Epik's downsides but, when you have your co-workers on your side (winning them over), life becomes embarrassingly sweet. I really think admin is ever-so-slowly getting organized and trying to see things our way, will take time I think.
I will honestly miss everyone in my district who I've bestowed nicknames (characters)upon. May you new guys get equally as lucky and your experience be pleasantly memorable. |

In the second half of Aug.-where you attend an UNPAID orientation(a crock of s***). The job itself begins c. Sept. 1. Go to the website.... |

If I wanted to live in the provinces I'd give EPIK a shot, I'd love to have a job that only payed me late 4 times in 20 months. My new job very reliable but there's plenty of hagwon jobs that NEVER pay on time (like my old one) |

Ditto Adventureman! Saxiif: I can see where you're coming from, but EPIK is NOT supposed to be in the same world as hakwans. EPIK itself claims this to be so. So it's unacceptable that we EPIKs, as civil servants(albeit non-permanent ones), be paid late while S. Korean public school teachers NEVER are(and, yes, I checked). How in the hell can we fight to have EPIK changed into a JET-style program when we can't even get the basic right of being paid on time?! For the record, I spent 5 yrs. in Japan(3 w/JET & 2 w/a ruthless private co.) and was never paid late ONCE. |
