Your school may expect you to clear your residence the day after your contract ends (and they are entitled to have you vacate the premises)
AND
if you are at a public school you (may) have contracted to leave within 10 days of the end of your contract (or possibly forfeit your return air ticket).
You are required by law to either depart by midnight on the last date indicated by your ARC
OR
Get an extension.
The extension will be given PROVIDED you have an outward bound ticket dated within 30 days of the expiry of your ARC. IT must be applied for BEFORE the expiry of your ARC (usually any time within the last 30 days of your ARC).
IF you are doing it on-line you need to do it MORE THAN 1 week prior to your expiry (to allow for processing). If you do it at your local immigration office you can do it any time BEFORE the final 3 days of your stay.
The extension will be until the departure date indicated on your outbound ticket (max of 30 days).

That's where I first thought of the ten days! I knew I heard it recently. |
