What you need is a mini display port to ****** adapter.

******* = whatever type of plugin your tv utilizes.

HDMI or DVI is usually the case.

What makes macs unique can make it difficult to adapt to other products.

You can buy the adapter online.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001IF5YLQ link for mini display to dvi

I think (not sure) that even with the mini display port to hdmi adapter, sound may not come out.Again not sure but did read it somewhere.

Just a way of Apple to make more money out of you... But you can bypass it by buying generic on eBay or a site that is similar

Yeah I'm gonna say you're correct on that one, a mini DVI port will only send a video signal while a HDMI port sends video and audio.

It looks like I have a mini-DVI port. But how can I make it so that audio AND video is transferred to my TV?? It sounds from previous posts that the audio will not be transferred as it stands.

buy another audio cable to attach to the TV, or hook up the laptop to speakers 'cuz it'll sound better anyway.

mini DVI or mini display port?

Either way looks like your boned as neither can support audio on the mac, and if your TV has no digital inputs your also boned as you'll have to use jazz quality component input.

I wouldn't bother doing either, save your money, buy a better TV.

If it is the newest (2010 models) then its mini displayport

Considering it is a brand new tv, i doubt it would not have either hdmi or dvi on it. Using the laptop speaker idea is probably the way to go if only video comes through the cable.

don't think he said brand new tv? He said not flatscreen, any what I would call flat screen (lcd/plasma) is going to have a digital input, an old CRT is going to have component/scart/maybe s-video and an aerial, not all that useful!

If you're going to be in korea long, there are enough nice big tvs coming up on here for sale that will make connecting a laptop to worth it!

Or the OP can just post a pic of there tv/mac to clear the confusion up, would love to help!
