| Just a few weeks ago I put out a feelers to about ten recruiters I saw on here and craigslist and I got flooded with phone calls and emails within hours. If you can provide a picture, resume, and don't hesitate when they ask you about the criminal background check you will be flooded with jobs still. |

I totally agree. If you have the documents and a nice photo. There's nothing really stopping you from getting a job. I can't understand how some people are taking months to get one. |

^ This.
A few days longer than usual is nothing out of the ordinary...there are more teachers now here than ever before.
A few weeks is just bad luck or being picky.
But a few months...maybe just maybe the person should take a good long hard look at himself, his resume/documents and how he is presenting himself to recruiters/potential employers.
I'm male, the wrong side of 30 and not blond. Plus I was looking for a public school outside of the normal hiring season and being a tad picky.
And it still only took about a month to find a job I could live with. |

thats true. if you tell them you have ALL THE DOCUMENTS NOW, theyll pounce on you like a cat on catnip, now, will those jobs be good or not, thats a different story.
Get a good picture too. I wore lenseless glasses for mine this time (ooh, teacher looks smart!). They were the black architect glasses all the flower boys here were now... |

Interesting story. I met a friend for a drink and they introduced me to their friend (I don't live in the same city as these two). Friend's friend is an older woman, had no luck with recruiters when trying to get a job in the time before her contract ended so she could transfer the E-2.
She is working in Seoul at a job she was told by recruiters she could not get. Why? She is in her late 30s, not North American, looks nice to anybody normal except for a recruiter with all the judgement of a wino. She was rebuffed for all these hagwon jobs and then decided to do some hard research and found out where one of these no name places were (the recruiter withhold that info).
Turns out the hagwon was delighted to see her. Impressed by her and her cv. Didn't care she's not North American because they understand her accent and it's not really much of one anyway. They told her that they were being sent cvs of young North Americans who had little real work experience and they wanted better than that but these were the ones being pushed. |
