| Defense wins championships and the Canucks are deep in that department. 1 through 6 they are good defensively and can move the puck effectively. They also have good team defense with quality two way forwards. They have great special teams this year, and they know how to play with a lead. When you get behind against them it's very hard to comeback. I think the system they use when they are ahead can be really frustrating to play against. Luongo really should be better. I do think he's one of the best goalies in the league, but he's had some shocking games in the playoffs. I hate to say it since i don't like the Canucks (or rather many of their bandwagon fans), but this really could be their year. But i hope not, because then we will never hear the end of it from the annoying bandwagoners. |

The Canucks are certainly firing on all cylinders, and demonstrating a previously elusive depth on their top 3 lines. Winning 3 games in 4 nights against very good teams was certainly impressive. Few teams enter the Shark Tank the night after a tough game at altitude in Colorado and come away with 2 points.
However, it is very premature for Vancouver fans to be planning a Stanley Cup parade down Robson St. The Canucks have a very challenging January schedule ahead of them, so the end of this month will provide a clearer picture of whether this team is for real. And assuming they make the playoffs, there are lingering doubts as to whether Luongo is a "play-off" goalie. Additionally, they have not been ravaged by injuries.
There is a lot of parity in the Western Conference, and getting to the Stanley Cup finals will not be a cake-walk for any team. Detroit is playing very well, and are loaded with veterans with Stanley Cup experience. They will be hard to knock off. LA can go on a shopping spree before the trade deadline and become an instant play-off menace. Colorado also has the potential to scare a few teams, come playoff time. And despite missing some key players, I wouldn't write-off Chicago quite yet.

| Since 2004, the Sedin twins just aren't willing to pay the price (physically) to win a cup. |
Your comment may have been accurate a few years back, but is certainly far removed from today's reality. Sure, in 2004 the Sedins were more flimsy than a couple of Ikea Billy book cases. But they have obviously worked out and bulked up in subsequent years. They seemed undeterred to go into the corners during last year's playoffs, and more times than not, emerged with the puck. I'd have them on my team any day. |

Big Canucks fan and this is the year!
Vancouver Canucks have a great chance to win the Cup this year. The additions of Manny Malhotra and Raffi Torres, plus calling up Cory Scneider in goal are the necessary elements to make the Canucks the odds on favourite to win the CUP. Canucks are a strong team all round with depth.
Scneider hasn't lost a game yet this season, and having him play about 20 games will have a rested Luongo ready for the CUP run.
Canucks are the best team in the league at the moment, and that's with Salo injured
Canucks have lost to the Blackhawks the previous 2 seasons in round 2. Chicago is a weaker team this year. Red wings will give the Canucks a run, and it'll be close.
This is the year the parade marches down Robson street. They may even place the CUP in the hands of Lord Stanley statue in Stanley Park. |
