What I heard was it was an aged ship with outdated technology.

Vicaversa, What proof that this person was a loon thrown off of an investagative taskforce? What taskforce and why was he thrown off of it?
It is pretty wierd that such a beaut. ship fully equipped with the latest sonar and tech couldn't detect such a simple thing as a torpedo. It should have been able to neutralize it, actually. I'm sure NK technology hasn't advanced in the last decade when their navy was no more than rusting iron. |

Ah, thanks for the explanation.
Yes, I agree. The OP is out to lunch. They so did it. |
Well, actually, it appears they didn't.

SEOUL, June 29 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's military investigators admitted Tuesday they had "mistakenly" shown the wrong blueprint of the type of North Korean torpedo they said sank a South Korean warship when they announced their probe results in a nationally televised briefing last month.

South Korea: The story of ROKS Cheonan -- repression, lies and half truths
The recovered remains of the sunken ROKS Cheonan warship.
September 1, 2010 -- It has often been said that "the first casualty when war comes is truth".
An example of a major factual error is the assertion that there is North Korean writing on a torpedo found near the incident on. The torpedo found near the wreck has the Korean character "1번" inscribed on it (which is pronounced in English as "il bun", meaning "No. 1"). The JIG report claims that writing on it that is identical to the writing found on a North Korean torpedo found in 2003 and the bulk of the JIG report's conclusions that the alleged torpedo came from North Korea rest on the "1번" inscription. However the torpedo found in 2003 was in fact marked with 4 호 not 번, this is a big difference. South Korean military leaders themselves have admitted in a press release that the numbering system of the 2010 torpedo does not exactly match with the 2003 torpedo, as was reported in the South Korean newsgroup 공감코리: the torpedo fragment from 2003 had a hand written writing 4호".[19] According to Yang Moo Jin, a professor of North Korean studies at Kyongnam University, South Korea, it is not North Korean custom to label numbers with the letter 번 (for example "1번", "2번", "3번"), instead North Korea tends to indicate numbers using the word "호" (such as 1호, 2호, 3호 etc. -- this is pronounced as "ho" and can be translated as code in English, for example, code 1, code 2...).[20]
Furthermore, a chemical analysis by the JIG has revealed that the blue ink pigment used to inscribe 1번 was Solvent Blue 5, a colour patented by the South Korean company Monami.[21] This has even led the South Korean ministry of defence to exclude the results of the ink analysis from the final report and concede that it might be difficult to conclude that the ink is made in North Korea.[22]

Academics call for Cheonan reinvestigation
They contend the reported damage in the JIG report does not match the Cheonans hull.
Experts hold an urgent discussion on the final report of the Cheonan sinking published by the Ministry of Defense at the National Assembly on Sept. 15.
A close-distance torpedo explosion at a depth of seven meters with a force equivalent to 360kg of TNT, as reported by the JIG, should be accompanied by a water column of about 80 meters in height as a result of the bubble effect and torpedo fragments embedded deeply in the hull, said Suh Jae-jung, professor of the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. The JIGs simulation, however, was unable to confirm this at all.
Meanwhile, Lee noted, In the appendix of the final report, there are energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) data showing that the adhesive material taken from the torpedo was not the aluminum oxide produced in an explosion but aluminum hydroxide, a type of rust resulting from corrosion. |

Mmm, just cruisin' the border of North Korea in an old ship with sailors on board. Yep, sure makes sense, heard it on TV, so it must be true.
Even those hardcore vets who oppose anything being posted which calls into question what they're about will tell you that you don't just roll up to the border of your enemy with outdated technology. |

| Korea uses a lot of tech from the 70's and 80's. Its not really obsolete, just not close to being state of the art. |

Are you counting the North's denial as even a shred of proof? It destroys your credibility.
Remember this, NK also denied digging tunnels into SK and even blamed the South. They are not known for taking responsibility or honesty.
|
Well actually they admitted to digging the tunnels but were claiming they were mining for coal. But what they said was true. I went in one tunnel and the walls were black.
Oh wait....they hastily painted them black trying to fool the UN inspectors..... |

I stopped reading right about here. I'd ask you for proof of this, but no doubt you'd just quote the loon that was thrown off the investigative taskforce. |
I agree.
You can't just claim 'false flag' without some kind of proof. None was offered. Anyone can say it--give some proof, please.

Gates is demonizing the Norks? Really? What would you say Kim Jong Il has done to his own country? |

I'll give you some time to catch up to my post where I answered the Capt and gave four links.

He is not demonizing his own country, but I'd say he's a horrible dictator. |
