| After working in a dog shelter and soup kitchen in korea I have seen what goes on here but this is still shocking. |
The dog shelter and the soup kitchen were separate facilities, right? |

All of those dead Korean cows buried six feet under will haunt that Rat in the Blue House (President Lee Myung Bak).
He got what he wants: American beef. |

Are you implying that this was some sort of conspiracy to force Koreans to eat American beef? If so, that's a bit out there in left field, don't you think? |

Not really but I read so many news how the South Korean government is doing a poor job erradicating or preventing the FMD. |

I feel for the pigs, I like them a lot, but this is just business... Killing them in any other way would drive farmers' costs up higher, and thus prices higher. You gotta weigh the pluses and minuses.
In any case, you can be outraged at this, but I think you have to be outraged by the meat/food industries in general.
Why is anyone surprised by this? It sucks, but the sudden surprise and outrage is beyond me. |
i agree. the industry is what is to blame but the argument about costs doesn't really hold sway. if korea's image is something that the country wants to take seriously, this is a fairly large scandal as far as PR is concerned.
i would love to see korea screen something like "earthlings" or "food inc." and see about the surprise then. but maybe there wouldn't be - who knows? anyone who likes to eat fermented cabbage or anchovies with peanuts is pretty crazy in my books anyways. |

It's ridiculous.
It's like someone came up with a plan:
Get rid of animals ---> bury animals but forgot the whole "make sure animals are dead before burying them" part.
I mean, WHY bury them alive?!?! It's just horrid. Pigs are extremely intelligent animals, too. It's not like they're dumping a bunch of turkeys in the ground.
Major fail, Korea.
