You need to write out a "jurat" (google this if it is unclear) swearing the authenticity of the document, which the notary will attach to the document. Essentially, it reads "I swear that this document is real." Your father, mother, or Joe Moron down the street can do this for you (using their own name....I've been tempted to try this with a document asserting my Hegemony over Atlantis, to see if they catch it), and it is still valid. Then, proceed with the Apostille process as per usual according to the laws of your state. Easy.

Anyone can do the swearing it's real. All they have to do is take the orginal and take the copy and on the copy write
I swear this is a true and verified copy of the original

and ta-da, your copy of owning Atlantis will be a real copy! Smile BUT, it doesn't say that the original is a real doc. Just that the copy is a true copy.

I am going through this situation at the moment. I contacted immigration today. They stated that an nation wide check is required for Americans and Canandians. Amercians must have an FBI check and it must be apostilled.

Canadians are recommended to get the RCMP check, cut a nationwide check must be performed. After which it must be signed by a notory public and mailed to the nearest Korean consulate to get stamped.
For Canadians, be sure to provide a permission letter, copy of your passport, money order, and prepaid return address envelope.

If you already handed in the required documents to immigration before the new year, then all you need is a release letter from your new employer.

They changed?! aGAIN?. (fourth time's a charm?) At the end of December, we personally went to Suwon kimmi and they said the laws were being postponed for another year.
