| The 'best' Korean cars are still Japanese derivitaves: the Samsung SM3 and SM5 are Nissan products from five years ago. The humble yet indestructable Tico is a rebadged Diahatsu Mira. |
Yes you're right. So what?
Renault OWNS both Renault-Samsung and Nissan, remember?
Tico is only the past. They stopped producing them 5 or more years ago.
Besides if I were you, I won't ever include a Tico in the 'BEST' Korean cars column. |

While the quality control is getting better on cars and other products and I might add, I'd consider buying a korean made car, TV, etc. what needs to be done better is quality control on the way koreans do things day in and day out! If they could just forget about korean culture, corruption, terrible driving habits, alcoholism, pushing and shoving and on and on and realize that the world does not revolve around koreans, korea would be a heck of a country! I's not about American style, it's world style, it's what would be considered normal in a civilized advanced country. Koreans have not done anything to improve relations in the way they conduct business throughout the world. It's still "monkey see monkey do" and we do it because that's the way we've done it for centuries attitude! Makes no sense. When koreans get together with other koreans, it's a joke to watch them! It's a circus! Yet, when they get together with people from other countries, they are different and then revert back to the "korean thing/way" of doing things. If the korean way was all that great, the whole world would follow korean style! The world does not.
This business about the new park in seoul, the park by city hall. Complaints are coming in about the shape of the park being similiar to the Japanese flag! How stupid and petty are koreans? Complain about the Japanese Cherry Blossom trees then that thousands of koreans go and see every year in the spring throughout korea! No complaints then! I just don't get it. Even here in Hawaii, korean businesses are suffering in sales and korean business owners complain that "the locals don't like us or buy from us!"
Why no complaints from the Chinese community? Or the Japanese? Or the...
That's great that cars are improving, take it a step further korea! |

Generally I'd agree with you but you have to admit this is a pretty decent looking car:

| A recycled Toyota Celica. From five years ago. When will Korean auto-makers produce an original automobile? How about a convertible? |

The Tiburon has the torquey V6 from the Santa Fe's in Australia.
Unfortunately, even though the drive is through the front hoops, the overall poor dynamics means that it's no match for the Integra Type-R.
I guess it's a step in the right direction, but you'd think Hyundai would have learnt something about performance during their years in WRC. Unfortunately, no.

Apparently, Korean manufacturers do NOT publish stats for crash tests of cars intended for the Korean martket. The one's here, it appears, are sub-standard.
So, what does that mean for the Korean consumer who sees his Made for America car get a high grade - he'll likely assume the Made for Korea car is of the same standard and buy it. He has been cheated, and does not know it. |
