That's quite remarkable. We don't even have that many National Parks in Canada as you have on your A-C list. We do have lots of very large provincial parks though. How extensive is the state parks system in the US?

I'm guessing somewhere over a 1000 state parks... and I've been to an awful lot of them too. Heck, my last apartment was overlooking Greenbelt State Park in College Park, Maryland.

I've also been to a significant amount of the parks in Canada... the only province I've missed is PEI... and I haven't been to the Yukon or Northwest Territories. But I've been as far east as St. John's, New Foundland and as far west as Victora, BC... and alot of places in between... Banff and Jasper are way up near the top of my favorite places I've visited.

Jirisan was great.

I have been to many of the parks on the Ops' list but I still like Jirisan best.

Hallasan in Chejudo also has some cool hiking.

I did the same hike as you virtually on Jirisan but in 3 days. It was so awesome but have to be fit.
I went with 4 but only 2 of us made it right to the other end.

It wasn't me, it was the girl i was with, she had climber some Himilayan mountains plus Kilaminjaro so she was the one that pushed me on all the time.

Thats why the other 2 pulled out after 2 days, couldn't keep pace.
Still loved it though.

I've been to Juwangsan. Really nice little park. Stayed at a minbak with some friends there and hiked one of the peaks. It's also quite isolated which makes it less crowded than other National Parks. Got to check out Jusanji Pond when you are there too.

I've been to Sorak twice but both times my wife was with me so no real hiking took place.

I live in NW Seoul 5 minutes from Bukhansan and hike it almost weekly. Yes, it can be crowded but in its defense there are many hidden jewels that are not. I've found many trails where you won't see but one or two small groups on your hike even on Sunday. I agree though that the main trails can be a cattle drive. Avoid them.

I organize a group that gets together the last Sunday of every month (heading out for this month's hike in a few minutes) if you're interested drop me a PM.

I'm still amazed that I'm so close to Seoul when I'm hiking that park.
