This thread must have been designed just to leech out all the pompous Apple goons out there, ready to team up with each other and talk about aesthetically pleasing operating systems and smooth, streamlined touch sensitivity of the modern age, and how statistically the iFranchise will dominate the western world etc, followed by a collective shower in their own ejaculations.

I went into an apple store today and spent around 2 hours giving apple products a go from an unbiased point of view.

Conclusion - the only thing of interest was a game called 'cut the rope' - which is admittedly awesome - and an alarm clock. The only reason the alarm clock was interesting is because it cost over �200. Functions of alarm clock? Well it could charge an iPhone. You can press play and stop. Oh and it tells you the time.

The staff were sickening. Sickening. I don't even want to go into it, my poor blood pressure... Clearly hired on image alone. That pompous, geeky type, yet not TOO geeky to consider partying and social times out of the question.

The fakeness of their personality to my happiness was like the recent solar flare to the positive effects on electronics.

They linger around you, waiting eagerly for small talk about whatever it is you're doing.

I can't really rant enough about the diverse list of hate I have for the staff, but it was enough for me to never buy an iProduct, just as my original opinion was before I entered.

As someone who received an iPad as a gift, I have to say I don't think the iPhone and iPad are actually that wonderful. Sure, they're useful, but they're useful in the sense that if you get one you'll find uses for it, rather than in the sense that you had a pre-existing need that an iPhone or iPad is the best way to fill. Sure I use it for a lot of things, but before I received it, I still did all those things, just by different means.

I'd have to say the way it's improved my life most is that I no longer waste large amounts of paper practicing my Hanja due to the "Zen Brush" application, and even then I'm not sure I'd consider it a real improvement, since I kind of liked seeing piles of my calligraphy sitting around the room. I'm seriously considering going back to paper.

I think it's better to talk about the advantages of a modern Smartphone instead of an iPhone in particular. There are some minor advantages and disadvantages to some Smartphones compared to others, but they all offer pretty much the same functionality.

The function I like the most is maybe the GPS. If you like hiking and running it's very nice to track your progress and providing a map. If you are considering buying a GPS for hiking I would say buying a Smartphone instead could be a very good option. Of course the iPhone runs out of battery quite fast, so don't expect to use it for long expeditions...

Being able to read a book whenever I'm stuck on the subway or something similar is also very convenient, but many of the applications are simply time wasting applications which I might have been better off never installing.

My biggest problem with most Smartphones is that they require a lot of attention to use. With a regular cellphone you don't have to worry about misclicking so you can write a message without even looking at your phone or only glancing every once in a while. With Smartphones you easily lose focus on what is going on around you. This can be very rude and also make you lose out on some valuable information, so I hope they will find some way to make it Smartphones require less attention in the future.

My gf has an iPod Touch, and always is using it. It does everything she wants, plus play some simple games. It's convenient to have. Granted I know this thread is about the iPhone, but the device is pretty useful when you strip out the phone in it . Apps, music, movies, etc. all in your pocket is a nice thing to have.

I was at a Korean restaurant in LA last week and a couple of FOB adjumas were sitting at a table near us. They called customer service on their new iphones and they wanted to: "Play angry burdu game how?" it was so funny. My wife said she only bought the phone to play this game. Ridiculous but sadly true. The game is fun and addicting.

I got bored of it within minutes. Those hours spent in the apple store were almost entirely spent on the other best seller 'cut the rope'.

I got my iPhone 3Gs "free", (55'000won a month, 13 months) with unlimited data. It's not in my name though. My first apple product. It's OK. Does some neat stuff, but nothing I really couldn't live without.

Does anyone know the costs associated with owning an iPhone 4 in Korea (i.e. phone price, monthly payment for unlimited data, etc.)?

I'm moving to Korea soon and I was looking to get it as soon as I get there .
