whenever I get a speeding ticket in aus I mail it in saying my visiting relative was driving the car and the fine is cancelled. He should go to court and he will get off. Or if he plans on leaving aus just forget the whole thing and ignore them. Maybe you can tell me his name and next time I get a ticket I will write them and say my friend ------- ---- was visiting from Korea and sped past the camera. They will be like oh ya that guy who racked up all the tolls.

Oh, and to imply that it's only immigrants that are being hit with this law is just plain dumb. Did he hold his passport up to the camera as he broke the law? Come on. I know it's Queensland, but it's not THAT racist.

I know two Maori guys that would disagree with you. They both got locked up in the 80"s in different small towns in Queensland. Both spent the weekend in the police cells driven to the edge of town and told never to come back. The words used both the small town cops were pretty explicit and to the point. Oh.... and their crime was the color of their skin

Queensland in the 80's was vastly different than Queensland now.

In America I might try contacting the attorney general or some immigrant protection group or the American Civil Liberties Union (not sure if that's in their line of work but they could recommend someone perhaps). You probably have similar groups in Australia that may offer some assistance in case the judge isn't understanding. The woman you spoke to on the phone sounds like a total ****, she could at least be civil to people but that's typical of people who work in bureaucracy unfortunately.
