I lived in the small farming town of Hadong in the beautiful Somjin river valley 45 minutes east of Jinju three years and let me tell you: I miss my near-weekly jaunts to Jinju.
Yes, there are good motels near the bus station just north of the river in Jinju. Most were 40,000-45,000 won for years.
And SEVEN years of frequent experiences busing into Busan has taught me there are some good 25,000 won motels in Busan, at Sangsan station to the west, where buses leave for the one-hour trip to Jinju, which are clean, decent and some with big bathtubs, really old-style whirlpools, well worth a soak!
I live on Jeju island now but miss Gyeongsangnam province dreadfully. I have committed myself to three years on this island. Even odds says I'll be back there when my stint is up here.
Jinju is an express bus ride away from Hadong, Jiri, Namhae, Tongyeong, Geoje, Busan, none of those places more than an hour away!!! Plus the riverside park in Jinju, and the university crowd. It works for me! |
