Being certified in both ESL and Special Ed would make you a double threat. In a good way, of course. It's possible to get certified in more than one area as a teacher and that combination would probably make you pretty hirable.

In general, the career outlook hasn't the greatest for teachers in the US because of the economy. Special Ed is usually still in demand because it's a harder area to fill.
