I'm offended by the mom's bad fight advice. Clearly she doesn't perceive the value in grappling whereas the kids are trying to imitate the UFC to some ill-trained degree.
I don't know their neighborhood or the back story to all of this. I mean what's supposed to happen? Mom and son and the boy sit down for a "teachable moment"??? At least stuff a point is getting maid. Things are probably going to settle after this. What should the mom do? Tell the son to give the other boy a card that says "Let's be friends"? THAT would be endangering the welfare of her child because I guarantee if her son did that he would get beat 8 days a week by people at school. |
I understand what you're trying to say. Boys will be boys and fighting is a part of growing up. But learning not to fight is also part of growing up. This could have been a teachable moment. Maybe not right at that moment but after the mother took her son aside. Explain to him that fighting should be a last resort, settle your problems in a better way etc. That is part of teaching kids to grow into respectable adults. |

| Yeah but this ain't the UFC. They could poke each other's eyes or bite or scratch or hit the balls or something. |
