Just do what your Korean students do, cut and paste an essay from the internet.

Had a student who tried that. Problem was...3 OTHER students copied and pasted the same essay!!!

OP: What the heck is the problem??? If you can't write 500 words about ANY given topic (even ones you don't know s@it about!) then why in the heck would someone want to hire you???

The problem is that when you are applying for loads of jobs this is too time consuming and tedious.

Believe it or not, JOBS can be time consuming and tedious too!

They either can't read them or don't understand complete sentences.

Or your writing just isn't 'interesting' enough.

Give me a decent subject and I'd have them spellbound.

I just wrote one for Avalon tonight. Piece of cake. The interviewer sounded depressed as hell, though...

Mine was about public smoking. Took me 10 minutes and I was already sure that it was going to be better than probably 95% of the essays they received based on the 'samples' I was given

Honestly I can't believe how easy it is to get a job like this

I have a Teaching Philosophy that I usually send with my resume. I've never been asked to send an essay on an unrelated topic though. I'd probably send them some of the essays I've done for my MA.
