OP, some readers/posters would absolutely shriek at your comment. Im 200 lbs and Im not fat, some might say. Unless youre a muscle head and you weigh over 200 lbs, youre overweight. Stop lying to yourselves and letting others convince you that youre not. I dont want to hijack this thread while calling out fatties, but most people are certainly disillusioned. Why is that? Media? Acceptance of a large portion of cultures being overweight? Many different reasons can be given.

190 AT 6ft. really isn't that overweight... I'm have a fairly thin and at 6'1" I'm 175-180. I'll even post a picture if you don't believe me.
Calm down yo. |

As am I. That's why I said 6ft and over 200. Not sure if you were disputing or reassuring the OP. I don't know what I'd do with 25 extra pounds, yo. |

Sorry guys. I was not being CRYSTAL CLEAR! I applaud the OP for what he is doing.
Seems like he is finding something that is actually working for him.
***My point: SOME READERS/POSTERS WOULD ABSOLUTELY SHRIEK AT YOUR COMMENT, OP. YOU SAID, I wasn't terribly overweight at all. I AGREE WITH YOUR STATEMENT.
YOU REALIZE THAT 190 ISNT WHERE YOU WANT TO BE AND FEEL IT IS
A LITTLE OVER WEIGHT. ONE MAY NOT AGREE WITH YOU, MEANING THAT 190 IS not OVER WEIGHT. YA DIG? HENCE THE SHRIEKING!
Because..190 is not too far away from 200. One that is over 200 might say, Im 200 lbs and Im not fat
Shifty - not bitching about fat people at all. But, youre allowed to perceive things any way you like. Aint the internet wonderful? Hope the diet continues to work for you, OP. |

You can eat anything you want, as long as you spend no less than an hour a day on the treadmill on an INCLINE of 10% at a speed of 3.1 miles an hour.
But no one will read/listen to what I said because most people are lazy. |

That would be 'shifter' I believe, not 'shifty'. I 'shifty' am more the nice guy, not contrary poster type. Why take a chance with 'shifter'?
In this case it just so happens that I fully agree with you. You were merely imparting a friendly cautionary....and a fully justified one at that.
All the time crystal clear, a well written and timely reminder for some of us not to get complacent. In fact it's obvious. |

Why 10% and at 3.1 miles an hour? Is this something you do or have read about?
I found TABATA protocol difficult to do but helped to lose some weight in a fairly short period of time. |

I half joking was. My experience that has been. Yoda speak is this. Lost aboot 6.5 - 7 pounds in 2 weeks I have. Sometimes run I go.
I cut the carbs way down as well. I know not of the names of these diets you speak of, but I do know that if I didn't eat so much sugar, soda and breads carbs, I would not have gained 20 pounds when I quit smoking last year. Thank God for that, I hated smoking.
I've also never believed that diets work for every person, I think people are very different in the way their bodies react to diets and exercise. Not because I'm educated in dieting/exercise, but because it just seems so obvious that everyone is different... |

A good idea for people who want to lose some weight or reshape their body somewhat is carb cycling. I don't eat carbs late generally on any day. Otherwise its a three day cycle. First day is high carb, which translates for me as 3 meals include carbs (out of 5). Second day 2 out of 5 and last day is one. That is simplified and includes some exceptions. I'll eat green vegetables with any meal and I eat pretty clean. My carb sources are generally brown rice, nuts, pretty clean sources. You can get as scientific as you want and count the calories or you can do what I do and just eat enough to be full and control what I'm eating instead. One exception is that you eat carbs before and after the workout. I workout 3 times a week.
This is great for me cos I don't want to lose a ton of weight and I also don't want to put on the fat that serious bulking would entail along with the muscle. Obviously I'm losing some muscle gains but I feel it is the best of both worlds. |

This is almost as close as my diet. I load up on the greens, though. I also eat a few less carbs than it seems you do and beans/nuts are a major source of my proteins.
Cardio is sooooo under rated. You have to do it if you don't want a spare tire or thunder thighs. Thanks for the continued inspiration, JMO. |

I don't know how people lose weight without a good workout every day. I sweat a lot today, 400 calories - I worked for that...took me 53 minutes at an incline of 11% at 4.5 speeds, and then running short bursts of sprints. I kept my heart rate at 167.
It's probably more that I can't wait for three months to see results when just dieting w/out working out or doing some kind of cardio. I want to lose this last 15 pounds that will make me a 32 inch waist again. The only reason I gained the weight is because I quit smoking cold turkey last year, and filled the void with awesome tasting food both in Korea and back home. Amazing how much better food tastes when you stop.
I lived in the Korean countryside when I first went to the ROK...lost 20 lbs back then just walking back and forth up the hill to my house and three or four times a day. It took a few months, but all that weight loss was from hoofing it home and back to school so many times every day. That was pre-internet, so we always went home to watch TV or write letters or whatever. Rollerblading had only been out a short time, and there were very few in Korea. I had a pair, but it was hell on Korean roads. Ended up severely injuring my knee.
As soon as I went back to Seoul to live, I gained it back in 2 months. |
