You sure are negative about a lot of the places you have visited, Yaya. I didn't think there was anything wrong about Kota. I think your expectations were probably unrealistic. |

A lot? I don't think so, as I've enjoyed Thailand, the Philippines, Bali and the like. Kota is a place I don't think I'll ever visit again for the reasons I mentioned before. |

I really don't like Manila, due to the flies, the strewn garbage on the streets, the stench, the 7/11 Security cops with Shotguns, and the noise. |

Me too for the homeless all over the sidewalk, the traffic, the touts everywhere, and mass number of beggars.

I also feel like Manila really lacks a true city vibe. It feels more like the American suburbs with shantytowns rather than trees separating the gated communities and the malls. It really seems to lack the kind of downtown core that I've seen in other Southeast Asian cities (can't speak to Jakarta or Saigon, however, and I feel like they probably lean a bit in Manila's direction). |

Saigon is very much a proper city. An awesome one at that. |

Everywhere is interesting on a lot of levels.
I can see where people might not like Japan if in Korea, I didn't think much of it when I was in Korea either. However, living in Japan is real nice. Amazing and comfortable actually. It's just not 'as fun' as going to other places, as it simply costs a lot more to do basic things here than other places.
Regarding the Manila discussion. As a regular to the Philippines, Manila always leaves a bitter taste upon arriving and departing in what is an otherwise beautiful country.
That being said, Manila can be an enormous amount of fun, and has a lot to offer. Certainly one of the best nightlife cities ranking with the best of Asia. The downsides are that Ermita/Malate area with all the street urchins harrassment. If those people weren't pestering everyone walking by, I think it would rank higher easily.
The rest of the Philippines is great though. Actually, I can't think of anywhere in Asia that isn't worth it. Plenty of places I wouldn't go back to again, but not because they weren't good or not interesting. Just simply because there are other places I'd rather return to, or new places I'd rather try to visit. |

Stayed 3 months in China and it all looked the same to me, except the grassland areas about Inner Mongolia.
The people were/are little more than creatures themselves if you rate how people act as an indication of human. Prostitutes (or were they just women?) following you around asking for you to take them to your hotel...not bad if they wouldn't ask for money at the end of it What are they? And everywhere I went to.
Pollution, very greasy bad food (no matter how expensive) and i just didnt appreciate the 'no T and A' part of the gals. I'm a big guy and women looking all of 9 years old just don't pull it for me
I would think that Japan would be the same in terms of women. |

I went to Pattaya for the beach and I really liked it. I liked the pure virgin white sand and the clear water. |

It is. So is Korea. You need to go to SE Asia and look for more of a Malay gene , rather than the NE Asian Chinese gene. |

I didn't enjoy most of Vietnam on the whole. Hanoi was my favorite city there.
Someone said Phnom Pehn, but I have to say I loved that place. Man, is that one crazy city. |

You're in the minority then because Pattaya is one big red-light district. If you want pure virgin white sand and clear water, there are plenty of other places in Thailand for that without the seediness of Pattaya. |

Have you ever been to another tropical beach? It's seriously the worst beach I've been to in Southeast Asia, and that includes the mega-disaster that is Kuta. If anyone tells me they enjoyed their time in Pattaya I'm going to assume they didn't leave their hotel room unless they were procuring local flavor. |
