How many "bad months" compared to "average months" or "great months"?
Is there such a thing as "really bad months"?
Are some people, even Korean taxi drivers God forbid, likely to exagerate what they earn?
is the figure before or after expenses?
Not opposing what anyone has said, just asking questions. |

Say What!!! Koreans don't have any experience in driving or they don't have a long history of driving so that's the reason for many accidents! How foolish!
What's a long history have to do with driving! Either you drive correctly or you don't! Nothing to do with a country's history of driving.

Fair call I can't argue that point.
My point is you only become good at something once it has ben done a long time. |

Then the same applies to him. His Korean must be bad. There is no way taxi drivers make this amount of money. No way! And the question still applies, how can you conclude our salaries are low? Now, stop being silly, and distance yourself from these absurd claims. |

It's crock. There is absolutely no way that a taxi driver makes 3 million won per month in a typical month. Unless the taxi drivers in other cities make 100% more than their counterparts in Gwangju. My goodness, some dentists don't make 4 million in a month. |

Anyone who stills believes that taxi drivers can make 3 million in an average month should take a look at these figures which show that 3 years ago lawyers made an average of just over 4 million won a month. Now, are a select few dimwits still willing to argue that taxi drivers can pull in close to what a lawyer does in a month?

Do those lawyers work for the government or private companies? It is hard to imagine that I'd be making more than a lawyer. |

It doesn't specify, but it isn't surprising is it? 4 million is a lot of money in this country. By the way, what do you do if you don't mind me asking? You would have to agree that taxi drivers commanding salaries of 4 million a month isn't a realistic proposition. |

It's a quite simple matter for Korean lawyers to underreport their income. |

| Yes, I agree that taxi drivers don't make that much. I was just surprised lawyers make that little. But I figure the average includes lawyers who work for the government. |

Yes, they are avoiding the higher tax bracket. |

Meaning that it's quite possible for the 4 million/month figure to be based upon lawyers's self-reported earnings, in which case they are actually making somewhat more than 4 million/month. |

| I still find it amazing that taxi drivers won't accept tips and will sometimes round down a fare if it's easier to make change that way. |

It is possible he does not know what a tip is and thinks you cannot count the money. |

I was sure I'd read somewhere that tipping is not common practice, I've tried to tip porters and pizza delivery guys before and they've outright refused |

No, don't tip. I mean they may have no idea of what you are trying to do. |
