Probably the best bottled beer I've had thus far is Cooper's Best Extra Stout, though Kozel comes close. Both of which I found at the Ilsan homeplus.

The first time I ever tried Cooper's was while in Korea 2 years ago and Homeplus was running one of their occasional sales. I was very impressed! |

| Kozel is Czech beer, Czechs beers are generally pretty good. I'm yet to make it to korea but it'll be great if they have that. Kozel Dark is nice. |

| Back to the OP's original question, it doesn't look like there any noteworthy NA beers around...Not that I'd expect any to be here, unless they start importing microbrews.... Note to the importers: Bring on the Dogfish head! Please!!! |

| Hate to say it, but the best I've seen in terms of a passable beer from the US is Sam Adams. If you're willing to consider Canadian, and I don't see why you wouldn't be, you can get your hands on some Alley Cat, Big Rock, etc., both of which are freshly brewed, have a few different selections, and can be found on tap in Itaewon and a few other spots around Seoul. |

Alley Kat's pale ale is tremendous.
I never even knew about it living in Idaho, just south of Alberta. Anyone know how it entered the Korean draught beer market? And why it's not sold here in bottles?
After having had a pint of it here, I feel a little bit sad. I reflected and thought, it seems like Koreans drink only for the sake of the alcohol contained in their beverage. Or where the drink comes from or how expensive it is.
Then again, it's worth considering that the beer market in the United States was not so different 20 years ago from today's market in Korea. |

| Are you talking about seen in a store, or seen in a bar? 'cuz if it's the latter, there's a bar/cafe called Public up past Gyeongbokgung station that is carrying a whole mess of Anderson Valley Brewing Company bottles (from Boonvile, CA). |

| The best North American I've found in Korea is either Anderson Valley's Hop Ottin or their Amber Ale. Quality stuff and becoming more and more readily available. |

Either, really. Was more curious about bottled beer, due to portability. More interest in the beer itself than the pub experience :P
Anderson Valley is among my favorite breweries, so that's brilliant. 90 minutes from where I live, but will have to visit sometime for a pint ~ And true, in time I need also to visit Seoul's handful of brewpubs.
Glad you mentioned this! |

| I have some serious doubt about this in Korea, but...does anyone know where I could find a bottle of Tusker, from Kenya? I've seen some number of Africans here, so I think it is at least possible...any beer enthusiasts have any ideas? |

Someone mentioned Craftworks and while they have some half decent beer it is not the beer mecca people claim it is. Their IPA is terrible.
Big Rock in Gangnam has a good selection of beers. If you like weizen, dunkel, and pilsners try the Queens Head in Hongdae or any of the Oktoberfests. Last but not least is Castle Praha in Hongdae (the Gangnam branch closed down ) where they have increased their selection of beers to include ale, IPA, and stout. Kudos to Castle Praha for increasing their range of beers.
Finally, I am being told by my beer loving friends that the Korean beer Max has changed taste for the worse. A sad tale as that was my prefered Korean beer. |
