Sitting here and reading you parse the intentions behind the officer's remark doesn't impress me. There's no systemic injustice here. A single officer made a crude remark. He apologized. And now we get protests beyond Toronto for it?

I don't think this protest is about the injustice of the remark or lack thereof. It's about calling attention to that mindset that "short skirt"="looks like a *beep*" and "short skirt"="*beep*" are not that far apart. |

Yes , clothing can be sexually alluring. If you dress a certain way men will look at you want to 'date you. Nothing sexist about that. We dress differently in different situations we do it consciously and with deliberation at times. I think an officer who was concerned about women's safety should be commended even if his remark was not appropriate.
The founder of *beep* walk is going to make money out of this. t.v. appearances, a book. Good play! |
