The food is only 'very bad' if it's accompanied by a sedentary lifestyle, and, as far as I'm aware, Mickey D's hasn't been marketing that.

High amounts of sodium and fat can't be good for you. I am not an expert on the food, but if kids will get toys with happy meals they should attempt to make the food healthier....I get your point about being sedentary.

Its not, but its not as bad as you may have been led to believe.

Let's not go down that winding San Francisco road . . .

You're absolutely right; it's not their problem.

Really, if parents forced their kids to act like normal kids (i.e. running around and playing outside instead of staying inside glued to a Playstation/XBox/Nintendo controller), burgers and fries wouldn't be much of an issue at all.

I think geldedgoat's point about sedenatary lifestyles hits home. McDonald's or no McDonald's, so long as kids are inactive they'll gain weight. This mimics my personal experiences very closely.

It would be more realistic if Ronald had blotchy skin and weighed 350 pounds.

Just recolor the Grimace with a flesh-tone and you've more or less got exactly what you describe.

My high school friend used to work at Mickey D's as a fry cook. After a couple weeks his face literally looked like a pizza.

Well, he was in high school.

I'm going to step up for McDonald's. Its not the best food. Its not the healthiest food. Its not even the tastiest food. But tell me you haven't wandered into one while new in another country and known that you'd finally get a recognizable experience. And thereafter regretted it.

You know what, I'm going to sit down now.

The only thing I eat at McD's is the breakfasts. They're actually pretty good when you're feeling hungover (and you get a coffee with it).

As for the advertising to children, it's up to the parents. Don't let your kids sit around and watch 8 hours of TV per day, and it'll be less of a problem.

Bah, Ronald McDonald should stay.

I still remember the shock I felt when I heard Cookie Monster say "Cookies are sometimes food." Hearing that made me want to trash PBS' headquarters. Seriously, sometimes food? The Count must be spinning in his coffin.

I say they need to take it the other way and start advertising more aggressively to kids to enjoy a good old fashioned American fast food hamburger.

And bring back Joe Camel too.
