LOL, man the day they can even come close to making pizza like
lombardi's, Di fara's , john's of bleecker, and patsy's is the day I become fat eating pizza!
there will never be NEW YORK STYLE anything outside of NEW YORK!
Is there even a coal oven pizza joint in Korea? are there even Italians running a pizza joint in Korea?
Koreans like garbage knock off things,
so I'll stick with the Pizza school, it's 5 bucks and when you are drunk or starving, it hit's the spot.. and frankly I find the costco and Emart pizza to doughy and oily. |

Contemplating trying the challegne...1000 dollars to eat some pizza? Sounds good
Anybody know about any details about the promotion?
1 person, 1 whole pizza (im assuming a costco sized/quality pizza), 15 minutes, must be before 4 pm. |

| hey mates, what about papa johns? are we not mentioning it because of their price? $30 for a large sized pan is a bit pricey i admit but the taste is right at home. |

Papa J's used to be better when it first opened - no surprise there. They picked up the same bad habit every other place has of skimping on the sauce.
My attempt to go against the grain last night at Pizza School and request no corn on my pizza met with great success, so maybe I'll tackle the sauce issue next. Charge me a thousand won more and slather it on! |

I had to chime in because pizza is my favorite food and I was born and raised in New York. I've found decent burgers in Korea but I haven't found a single pizza joint in the entire world that can make a pizza like NYC. I was in Konkuk and I think Pinch Penny's is the same joint. I had a slice over there and it was nasty. I think they microwave their shit. It was just gross. Honestly, Costco and Emart is better (better than Pinch Penny's, it's still bad pizza).
I have to agree with the comments on Pizza School. I found this joint nearby and been visiting every couple of days. I ask for the cheese pizza but tell them to take out the corn (I have no idea why they put corn in it) and add extra tomato sauce.
If the pizza's good I can finish that pie in 15 minutes easy, but to be honest it's gross to eat. If there's another joint besides the one in Konkuk maybe I'll try it, it might be that Konkuk's place was just nasty.
+1 for Koreadays' comment.
I enjoy all kinds of pizza, even if it's not that great. I just love pizza. I think it's because I'm not expecting any place to taste anywhere near like NYC. You can't find pizza joints that taste like NYC even in the US so you really can't expect to find NYC style pizza in another country. |

I've been making my own pizza for a while now, but when I don't feel like making dough and my husband has a craving, we go to the local pizza maru. They know that we like no corn and extra sauce, and it's decent, I guess.
On a side note, I've been looking to find a pizza stone. They go for about 10 bucks back home, and I outright refuse to spend near 70k that I see them listed as on gmarket here. To compensate, for the time being, I add a nice amount of cornmeal to the dough to give it a bit more crunch, but without the stone it certainly isn't NY style. My sauce is outstanding, though.
If anyone knows of a cheap pizza stone or alternative (untreated tile would do, but I'm afraid of buying one and getting poisoned from some coating or other,) that I could get here, you would be my hero. |

The bolded part is insane. There are all kinds of new york style pizza places outside of new york (just like there are authentic Korean restaurants in the US). The good ones definitely get fewer and farther between outside new york, but Boston has some fantastic pizza places of that style.
I have an Italian friend that is contemplating opening an authentic Italian pizza shop in Hongdae. He said he can sell them for 2-3k a pop (it's Italian street style pizza). Wonder how much business he'd get.

Got a recipe there? My sauce is good, but I'm always looking for different things to try. |

| To anyone who has tried it: How are their buffalo wings, and do they serve it with blue cheese/ranch? If they taste like the stuff back in the US, I would go the buffalo wings alone. I had them once in Korea and it was an incredible disappointment. |

My two cents.
Pinch Penny's is TERRIBLE!!
High-school cafeteria standard pizza at best. (and my high school wasn't that nice!) |

I haven't taken what guidos say seriously ever since I moved across the country and actually discovered what a guido was. And italian pizza is completely different than NY style pizza. GG.
By the way the promotion is over. LOL @ the amount of hate in this thread. People on Dave's will hate on anything, exhibit A |
