One more, same offer. Can someone get me an instrumental version of Cake's "I will survive"? Kind of gay, I know, but the peeps will eat it up. Again, thanks for your consideration for the helpless knucke-dragger....

Probably not the version you want, but it'll do if you can't find something better.

http://www.bendigolive.com/links/karaoke.htm

I'd look for something better but I have to go to work now.

I appreciate Beaver's help (don't we all? - bad joke), but is there a better link out there? I anticipate myself getting through this ordeal with a little help from a higher power (the internet).. Thanks to anyone smarter than me...

LOL ... I have Cubase SX and I've been trying to do it tonight as well, planning to do some live covers work with backing on DAT. The EQ on Cubase is parametric, so you can dial in the frequency band precisely and make a cut. But I have not been able to remove vocals without seriously degrading the track. I'm now into finding sections of the music with no vocal and cutting and pasting them together. Probably too late for you. BTW what are you going to play it from?

Can anyone tell me more about these karaoke versions on the net? I'm seriously interested.

Karaoke files (.kar) play in winamp and pop up the words in a separate window so you can sing along. The quality often sucks, though. It is generally a cheesy sounding elevator musack sort of thing.

Midi files are probably what you're after because they often just have the music.

Midi files would do it. I guess the extension is .mid? What exactly would you type in to a search to find them?>

Type "free midi download" in google. You'll get a million sites. Search around the sites a bit to find non-elevator music songs and download away. There are really a lot of these sites.
