| I fully support the right of any group of people to throw money at whomever. May I be one of them. |

| Is a white-only scholarship racist? Of course. But since scholarships that select for damn near every other race exist, is it reasonable? In our current political atmosphere, yes. |

Definition of racism
No, a white-only scholarship is not racist. It does not exhibit hatred or intolerance. Only mere preference. It does not arouse the necessary or even significantly likely implication that the white race is superior and has the right to rule over others.
Mere preference for one race is something substantially less than racism. |

So it's not racist if I don't let black people into my restaurant because it is my "preference" to have only white people in my business? |

You're abusing the word "preference."
Whether it is racist or not depends on the motivations. Most would agree that if a restaurant owner is willing to deprive himself of potential revenue to exclude members of a certain race, the owner has intolerance towards that race.
Happily, the law cares little about motivations. Racial discrimination is illegal, even for private businesses. |

Even your definition agrees that racism is an active and explicit ideology.
But at least I have some authority. I didn't pull "significant preference" simply out of my ass. |

This was the exact sentence that came to my mind when I read radcon's post. |

| The scholarships name sounds racist to me. Former Majority Association for Equality is obviously stupid, but something about calling it former majority sounds white supremacist to me. Those kinds of groups are big on saying that the other races are taking over and that they are being marginalized. |

It's called freedom of association. It may be racist, but since you're not actively harming anyone, it should be allowed under law. Beyond that it is obviously very distasteful, and I would encourage anyone to boycott any such establishment. |

Regardless of how it may "sound" to you, it's none of your business how people want to spend their own money or to whom they give it. |

Of course it isn't. The name of the thread is racist or not, not do these people have the right to do what they're doing. |

Sure enough, reverse discrimination exists.
One time, when I applied for a public school teaching position in the United States, the superintendent told me that he would grab me in a heartbeat if I were Black.
So I came to Korea, where reverse discrimination works in my favor. |
