| If a country as super conservative as Singapore can legalize (or at least decriminalize) it, then you know that there has to be a good reason for it. |

Like all those bar fights in the west you mean? possibly.
But isn't the fact that western men generally get sex based on female acceptance (rather than money) a good thing? A little occasional low-level violence is not exactly the worst thing in the world.
Korea is a society virtually free of public violence. But I'd say the levels of misery, emotional and mental abuse are higher. Because nothing is ever done to challenge bad behaviour. |

A 37 year old ex-prostitute would find work doing..........what?
Love reading some of the posts from people up high on their horse looking down.
That's like telling ex-felons "Just go get a job." If 12% of college graduates in Korea are unemployed and looking for work, what are the chances of a 37 year old woman leaving prostitution and being able to land a normal job?
How about you brainiacs figure that one out.
Maybe you'll suggest she just go to school and learn molecular biology because its SO easy to learn new things. |

Can't disagree with that.
As far as the above claim and violence, I think it's not just bar fights, I think the stat is not just linked to competition but lower overall violence. I'm too lazy to look it up now, but Think of the guys who simply can't get chicks or are just undesirable or anti-social, or even just want to go for a change of pace from the crazy fat wife or whatever. Prostitution is one of their only ways to get laid for them and/or let off some steam. So it's more than just bar fights. Lots of factors to consider before just slapping a ban on it. If it's regulated a bit and the women aren't mistreated, I don't see how it's so bad for a society. |

Uhhh. Prostitution is pretty dialed into the business culture here.
It's not necessarily the odd guys who go there. It's the decent looking, married to beautiful women, SKY graduate, 40 something, junior executives who feel compelled to go there with their co-workers. Many of them develop a taste for it which seems only natural.
If I were Korean and making a bunch of chaebol cash, I'd probably check it out, too. |

It is acceptable in Korea!! So our opinion does not matter. Nothing wrong with it as long as it is between two adults. I just do not see it as a major problem. If you open any big city phone book in the U.S. you will find page after page of ads for escort services. Gentlemens clubs are on every corner.
Any one who does not think money is a factor in getting sex with women in the West, is either a virgin or just does not get out much. |

Tons of pro-athletes partake in such activities... Probably more than half of your favorite pro-team. |
