Like Peppermint, as a veggie, at first I had some difficulty eating here, but now as I've got a grip on the lingo basics I can eat out when I want, usually where I want too.

The key is to learn the constituent parts of the dishes and they're usually ok with making up a dish for you. I can even eat at galbi restaurants, if I'm outvoted and have to go... though they smell bad and the meat here looks very poor quality.

I love Korean food! I could go for a long time eating Western in only once a week or so and out once a month or so.

Some of the things I like are very simple (love rice and a few basic side dishes!!) and some are my own creations made with Korean ingredients.

I guess I have always liked sour and hot. We ate a lot of sauerkraut growing up, which does prepare you for kimchee!

And you call yourself Korean! Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing

My wife throws the mother of all fits when there is no rice......

Nate: Yes, dear, I can handle corn on the pizza, but do we really need a bowl of rice?

Cha-gee: Evil or Very Mad

Nate: Waiter, can we get some rice with that?

Waiter: Shocked (dumbass)

But all in all love Korean Cuisine Razz

My taste for Korean food keeps changing. I started off not liking it much, as we all did; went through a long period of really liking (most of) it; but now a year on, am thoroughly sick of it's watery, spicy, fermented, side-dishy-ness.

Give me something stodgy and substantial.

I feel the same way about Korean food that I do about pizza; I really enjoy it as a treat, but I couldn't eat pizza every day. I've gone through a couple rough spots over the last year or so where I started to lose weight because I was so bored with the same dishes every day that I wasn't eating enough.

And so I like Korean food; I just get angry sometimes that I have no choice about liking it. I saw more international foods in convenience stores in small towns in the Philippines than I can get in the best supermarkets in Seoul.

We ALL did? Speak for yourself! I liked plenty of things from the first time I tried them. Nothing ever had to grow on me either. If I didn't like something the first time I ate it, I never had it again.

Then again, I ate college dorm food for four years, so I can probably eat just about anything.

Speaking of Korean food, I just found out that one of my favorite dishes(ahn ch'ahng sahl) is actually
cow diaphragm meat. Shocked

Oh well, pass the sahm jjahng.

Diaphragm is muscle though, yes? Tasty stuff.

I'm a big fan of Mok Sal (pork neck) myself. I've tried, and liked Kal Mae Gi but I couldn't get the ajumma to tell me what part of the cow it was. Do you know?

It's the part of the cow that's across town at the pig farm.

I love most food, and will try almost anything. I love most Korean food, but there have been some not so great experiences.

I was the only one in our party to eat the jelly fish today, and I was the only one spilling her guts in the bathroom for the next four hours.

Ah...the joys of extreme eating. It catches up with me every few years. Last year it was a raw oyster and three days of hell. I Spain some years ago pulpo almost killed me.
