I have purchased melatonin over the counter in Korea. Mild but effective sleep aid. Not every pharmacy seems to have it available, though.
It always helps me with my let-lag pretty well. |
oh dude, that's REALLY good to know. how do i ask for it? just throw a konglish spin on the word when asking for it? |
Pretty much. It's the same word. |
i don't live in seoul, and i tried three pharmacists yesterday, with no luck.
do you have any suggestions that might help me track some down? i can't remember the last time i had a proper night of sleep. |

Melatonin is good if you have plenty of time to sleep. I prefer Valerian root because you're not as groggy when you wake up. |

The last time I remember buying it in Korea was that pharmacy right off the main street in Insadong, don't remember what it's called but it's easy to spot. Someone else in the last page had a recommendation too.

Just an extra cup of coffee does the trick for me |

| Look for melatonin, extended release works best. PM, I might have an extra bottle lying around somewhere. |

If you're just trying to get over jet lag, antihistamines will do the trick. It's only for three or four days and then your sleep pattern starts to adjust well. When I come back from Canada I bring a bottle of Benadryl with me, usually have some left for the return trip to boot.
Anti-nausea meds often also have decently sedative-tastic effects. Really any kind of muscle relaxant works well if you just need something mild.
If it's a chronic thing, it's probably a lifestyle thing like recessiontime said. |
