He likes the ones who don't know any better yet. Bonus, they have no idea about all the things he SHOULD be doing but either can't or won't, in so many areas. So they won't complain, much.

But keep telling yourself how big a stud you are, sir. The rest of us are just jealous, right?

I teach ESL in South Korea, and this is the first time that I've ever been out of the USA. One thing that I have noticed is that as a foreigner I receive a LOT of attention, especially from young girls. One group I am teaching in particular are high school students ages 17 and 18. A few of the female students take it upon themselves to try to snap pictures of me with them holding my arms and they even ask me to be friends with them on Facebook.

What do I do? What's acceptable behavior in SK between students and teachers? If they want a hug can I give them one? Can we be FB friends? I don't want to date or sleep with ANY students... I'd feel really bad about that. But how often does a simple hug or friendship turn into accusations that are simply untrue?

These new social standards I have to accept for the next year are unclear to me... I was shocked the other day when a male student ran up to me and hugged me.

How old are you? It's all common sense, unless you're a K-teacher keep it professional and keep your distance.

What's creepy? Me? I said I don't want to date or sleep with any students... the lowest I will go is 21 and that's pushing it (think maturity levels).

I'm in my mid 20s. I spoke with some K-teachers about this, too. They said basically the same thing.

yeah i know i shouldn't feed the trolls. this particular one is just so obnoxious and floods the boards with his creepy penchant for little girls and ed hardy clothing.

and zack as for your statement above, what a absolutely moronic thing to say. it's akin to say "oh where i live murder is not illegal yet so i have fun going and slaying innocent people. you don't like it? come here and have them change the law. until then lock your doors and hope i don't come around"

it doesn't make it right

Then it's about 35 for Korean women.

I teach university and have many students as Facebook Friends, but I have a special folder which prevents them from seeing much of anything. Doing this keeps them happy (happy students are generally better students) because as far as they know, I just don't have any photos, etc. on Facebook.

I'm with the people who say Korean kids tend to be less mature than what we are used to. I was a pretty good kid overall but when I remember what I was doing when I was the same age as my elementary grade 6s it really
underlines the point. It's great that the kids here keep their innocence for longer, but you have to bear that in mind when it comes to personal boundaries between work and your life outside of work

That seems pretty smart. Doing this for high school kids is still just a bit too familiar for me though.

Moronic? Hooking up with girls 20 years of age is nowhere near murdering someone. For you to make that comparison is idiotic. Wise up.

wow! and with that comment you managed to convince the whole board that you are not, in fact, a creepy perv/ possible sex offender. I didn't think you could do it, but you have. wanna grab a beer? I'll meet you at the Family Mart across from the High School.
