i dont know why people in my thread dont get what im saying either
I NEVER id physically be bringing canadian dollars. Last time I checked when you usr a cdn credit card in a foreign country, money comes out in THAT countries currency
but the exchange rate will be determined by the credit card company |

Other than perhaps at a Pinoy store the only place you will fine PHP in Korea is at the airport (ICN) or Gimhae (PUS).
I always advice that you get p10,000 (the max you can legally carry into the country) before anyone comes to the Phils. Get the smallest bills you can (p100s and p500s if you can get some). P1000 notes are hard to cash/change/use outside of major hotels and mall department stores.
Bring the rest of your play money in shiny new crisp US$100 notes (7 notes per week of stay).

why are 1000 notes hard to use? I mean if something costs 800 peso's or even 600 pesos, you slip the guy a 1000 note and he gives you change right? |

LOL.... That really is funny.
P1000 might only be 25k won for you but is about a weeks wages for your average Pinoy.
Construction workers (10 hour days) get about p200 per day.
A maid or nanny get p2000-2500 per month (4 days off if they they are lucky).
Farm workers get about p150 per day.
Outside of a major department store, a hotel or tourist center you are unlikely to pay p800 (3-4 days wages) for anything.
Most cabbies can't make p100 change never mind break a 1000.
Most sari-sari stores need exact change (or close to it).
Don't, outside of a major tourist area, expect any one to carry p400 for making change. Outside of payday, they are unlikely to even have p400 to their name.
Get small bills. P20, 50,100s for cabs, trikes, jeeps and local use (shopping at street stalls or Pinoy restaurants. P500s if you are mall shopping. Hang onto your small change and use your big bills at the hotel or mall/department stores.

I got the best rate at this money changer in Mall of Asia. I had to fill out an application but the rate was pretty good.
The rate at the Manila airport (terminal 3) is just a few tenths of a point lower than many money changers in the city. |

42.23 pesos = 1 usd (internet rate)
41 pesos / dollar at a good exchange place (using US$100 notes).
40 is more common
39 for notes smaller than USD$100. (50's/ 20s/10s/5s).
38 at hotels (sucks) and customer service counters of most department stores and some banks (if you were foolish enough to go to a bank for currency exchange).
No place that I am aware of will exchange US coins to PHP.
