You don't need to feel that bad. Most of us are over-achievers to the Koreans.

| While it is true that there are lots of people older than you, if you come with a public school program, you might find yourself one of the older people in the bunch. But, no one (Foreigners) will really care. |

I almost went at 23 and didn't, and now want to go.I'm 26, will I stick out? Will making friends be awkward because ill be older? I'm female, if that matters. Thanks.
Ps I'm being serious...this is really bothering me. |
No matter what age you are, it will take you ~ 6 months (there is extensive empirical evidence for this - ask any foreigner!) to get used to Korea
It's a different ball game out here. As for Koreans, more senior foreigners are held in higher esteem. Actually, I think I might have been better off if I came to Korea a bit older and wiser, with more experience, and knowledge. |

He said 'here', unfortunately qualifying it as minimum intelligence but maybe it was just luck! Snarkfulness applauded! |

| I am 34 and I got here two weeks ago. I don't feel out of place at all, and in fact most of the teachers are in their late 20's and 30's, whether foreign or Korean. Many of them have been teaching for several years. A lot of foreign teachers bounce from school to school because they go home and come back. This is not their first time teaching in Korea, so they are older too. Many foreign teachers are also newly married couples. |

26 is definitely the average, or young... I think I was 24 when I came to Korea.. now I am 29 (been here on and off).

IMO a large amount of student debt is a bigger burden than an old age. |

| Absoluetly not! In fact, I wouldn't reccomend coming over here to teach for anyone under the age of 25, there's so much you have to deal with and you have to think on your feet so much that you need a certain level of maturity to handle it all without breaking down. |
