Nah, you're allowed. I just personally think it's a silly idea during major commute times.

So if youe phone rings you dont answer it for fear of possible damage from a running ajumma and therefore just wait until youre indoors to answer a call????

You should be responsible for your own phone. Whether you are using it or not, if someone bumps you and you subsequently drop it, then it is your fault. You have to expect to get bumped, pushed and shoved while riding the Seoul subway.

+1

Like I said before, if you are so worried about dropping it, tie it around your neck.

Why would I purposely do that???
I click the quote button and type under the quote
If it displays it like that, then its not my fault

Yeah I agree with what most of what is being said here, but your logic still does not totally make sense.

So youre saying if I get hit by a reckless driver on the road, that person shouldnt be responsible for covering my damage???
If I was the reckless driver then I could say, you should coat your car with an extra layer of protection to prevent dents and scratches :)

I say if someone is running from behind and hits you and busts your phone on the sidewalk etc. they should be partially responsible

WTH does that have to do with anything? I can't even understand the reply. You can drop your phone in the toilet and still get it fixed or exchanged if you have insurance. Doesn't matter how it got in the toilet at all. You just need to have insurance.

You have something like three times to replace it in one year, and then they'll revoke your insurance. I've got a friend who lost his phone twice and they simply gave him a new iPhone 4 on two occasions--with a small fee. There are also kids who get pissed off by the "kisses" (marks) on their phone and purposely throw the phone at the wall to get a new one. Finding the blame of who stepped on and destroyed my phone on the subway has nothing to do with anything.

It's questions like yours that prompted these companies to start the insurance policies. It's called "no fault" insurance. Kinda like car insurance dude, shouldn't be so difficult to understand.

Your question is a (very simple...like very simple...elementary) Torts Law question, that's already been solved with insurance. Shocked

Why should I have to use my insurance on a phone or car if its someone else who hit me and they are at fault???
They are 100% responsible if they are wrong

Lanyards and other sorts of wrist straps have been popular with expensive electronics such as camera for a long time. If you don't want to risk dropping your phone, take the appropriate precautions. Unless the person intentionally bumps into you, what can you say. Phones are illegal to use while driving and now even while cycling....I hope it's only a matter of time before they will be illegal to use while walking.
Now what about for the case of two people bumping into each other while looking at their phones.
