| AD - called CJIS again last night - it takes 4-5 weeks for the mail to be screened for anthrax, etc, so every request sent is untouchable during that time (meaning no congressman could expedite anything for the first 5 weeks.) Then, they match the prints they get against those of 72million criminals, so each set takes a certain amount of time... that's why the backlog isn't an issue of personnel on the part of the FBI, it's a saturated system with a finite capacity. I suggested sending additional sets now so that if your prints were rejected, you'd already be back in process. That's because everything starts back at square one. The woman with whom I spoke last night said getting things expedited, even on a second submission, was next to impossible (congressman or otherwise.) Here's hoping the special unit does your digits proud. FWIW, some immi offices over here have been really decent about prints in process if a director will go to bat for a candidate. If you are using a recruiter though, they are pretty much put up or shut up:( . I, too, wish the FBI could find a way to move more quickly than they do. Best of luck to you! |
