| Good to know, was this a sticky already? That labor law site should be somewhere easy to find. |

Regulations & actual practice are often at variance in the public schools.
If the provincial office issues the funds within 14 days, they consider their job done. The labor board seems to view it that way too. However, the POE doesnt send the money directly to you. A document goes to your district office where it sits on a desk until it gets attended to, & then on to your school for the money person there to get around to depositing it. A month is more realistic.
Worst case, your school admin doesnt even apply for the funds till its pointed out to them. POE cant act till it gets that requisition. Most schools, though, follow procedures efficiently.
But late is normal. I've never heard of a school being punished for this. I've also never heard of anyone not getting all their money due, eventually. |

| I had them fill out paper work to remind the admin people that they were supposed to pay me about 2 weeks before my contract ended. Last week I mentioned that I was expecting my money on time when I talked to the POE coordinator to file some non money related complaints. The school knew almost a month ago about the money, the coordinator knew a week ago. Its going to be very difficult for them to claim no one knew anything. I just hate this double standard where I have to rush off to the bank with an hours notice for petty stuff and they can break the law and just claim what amounts to incompetence, which apparently is an acceptable excuse around here, and no one bats an eye. |
