There is nothing wrong with relying on friends, and I have no plans to "go back home." There are advantages to having the account in the Korean's name. It is easier to get a VIP discount card for example.

Hi KND,

Do you mean a Uto or TTL card? I have one (uto) in my name, and sometimes, when I use it, they do ask for another id. Mind you this is the exception here. Foreigners can get these cards- I have one and 2 of my buddies have them as well. As for people from here, Joe Thanks has one (if memory serves) as does Mr. Pink. So you can get one without having a Korean use their id #.

If you need more info send me a PM. I love the uto (017, 011, 010) card! LOVE IT!

EDIT: my cell phone bill was a little over 200,000W last month.

I have a KTF card, but with my friends credit I was able to get a KTF VIP Gold Card, which has 100,000 points and gives better discounts. The card is in my name.

I understand I can get the phone in my name, but it is a lot easier for me to have my friend take care of it, especially if there is a billing question. I have no problems with it as I have known him over 8 years.

It's not, but I don't think he was trying to be controlling.
