Remember your ex-girlfriend didn't chose amway, she was lied to by peope she trusted. Try not to take her dumping personally, I know its hard, but the reality is she was fed a whole load of crap and unfortunately she believed it.

If you are still in contact with her, you could ask her to write down the promises made to her regarding finacial success and time frames. If she could do that, it may help her to realize later that she was lied to.

Amway changed her personality. That's what I noticed the most. She started to dress differently, taking more pride in her appearance. Nothing wrong with that, but it was such a contrast to the girl I knew for nearly a year before that. She would spend tons of money, nearly her whole paycheck on Amway related products, tapes, and trips. She would start to alienate long time friends of hers who shunned Amway and would instead socialize mainly with fellow Amway members.

She tried to get me involved countless times and I went along to a few seminars just to make her happy. The way that the audience would hang on every word that the guest speaker had to say was quite astonishing. She would paste pictures of luxury cars and boats and houses all over her bedroom. Things up until six months earlier she had no interest in at all. She became very testy and angry actually whenever I questioned her or anyone else how much money they were actually making. She would deflect the question off of her and say something like, "well remember that woman at the last seminar, she's making like fifteen million a month now." I'd say, "how do you know that? Did she prove it to you?" She'd say, "Why would she lie, you're just jealous."

In the end I strongly beleive that the people in Amway encouraged her to create some distance between her and I. A month has passed since we broke up and we still remain friends and she still remains optomistic and enthused with Amway. All the power to her I say. If it works for her great, but it's sure not for me. Reminds me of a cult. They want to control your thinking, your relationships, your demeanor. Anyways, when I wrote this posting the other night I was thinking to keep it kind of lighthearted and make a joke about it because I didn't realize my situation was so common. I felt like I'd be the only one who'd ever lost his girlfriend to Amway so I kept it humorous. Found out that many people have been in the same boat.

This thread is hilarious.........I think I'm going to start my own pyramid scheme and have my own harem of devoted worker drones. Maybe even set up my own compound, where I could house my new tribe of devotees and the hundreds of new children i've spawned, to sell even more gimchi products.

You're not exaggerating a bit by comparing Amway with a religious cult.
They have their own collection of slogans and buzzwords, just like religious cults. Amway-dazed victims end up parroting the party line all day long, just like victims of religious cults.

Amway teaches its followers to shun anyone who disagrees with them, just like religious cults. Amway has broken up families, relationships, and anything else that could be broken up.

People like you, who express doubts about the Amway spiel, are called negatives. You must have a strong hold on this girl, because her superiors want her to make a clean break with you.
