Also what did you do to improve your employability profile during this past year? Did you study on on teaching methods, took seminars online, attend a conference?
Those are things that make you stand out and in many cases places or activities that are fertile grounds for networking.
If you did none of these and just did the minimum at your job then you will very much be relying on recruiters just like you did for your first job....that will not land you the better positions unless you are very lucky.

THanks again, you clearly know your stuff and I appreciate the time and harsh truth of your comment. In my place of work I've definately not just done the bare minimum, I've worked very hard and appeased everything management has wanted without an utter of discontent.
Life's been easier this way as from an earlier stage of being here I saw ex co workers bash heads with the boss over petulent things they never won. Either way I know I will get a glowing reference once the contract ends and I have the experience of teaching 1st and 2nd grade elementary with absolutely no English ability all the way up to our Nok Ji Won kids who are hoping to get into an international High School.
Unfortunately, improving my employability profile officially ends there. I have done a lot of research on how to teach, improving/ammending my style depending on agebut these are just from watching and reading on the internet (and from my co workers too) Self improvement includes learning Korean which of course is a long process which will take many years to complete.
I feel I've done more than most newbie waygookins that I have met, but maybe that says more about the newbies I have met?
I'm definately interested in improving my employability. Networking is something I can do but online seminars and conferences, actual qualifications, I'm a little lost at where to start. I have no idea where to watch online seminars and conferences? Could you point me in the right direction?
Also thank you all for your contribution to this thread so far, a lot of the places you guys have suggested I am looking into. |
