They really take the postal charge into account? That's ridiculous. I just want to post some of my clothes and things, but it will cost me over $200 from Aust. Can they tell the postal charge if it's not on the package?

Yes, they really do take it into account. Regarding not having it on the package...I've never had anything sent that didn't get stamped for the postal charge on the package. Before I knew about this, I got lucky once. I ordered bedding and clothes from LL Bean to the tune of a few hundred, and the box was left at my door. Thankfully, no one took it!

I hope you have someone in Aus who can help you. If they are your clothes, simply mark them as personal belongings, and have them listed (i.e., 2 shirts, a sweater, etc). They will not charge you for anything that is marked as such. I often have family members send stuff to me, and they know to always mark anything they send to me as personal belongings.

Anyone experience problems with packages simply getting lost? That is, your package wasn't manhandled by customs officials and made its way into the country - but it never arrived at your door and into your hands either because it was lost, misdirected or perhaps stolen.

I am not sure if anyone is aware of this but there is a reason Fedex and UPS get held up and not the regular post service...

The Japanese government also does this...

It's a form of trade barrier... it makes it faster to use Korea's domestic mail delivery service.

So when you mail via the US postal service - it gets delivered to Korea's postal service... which then delivers it to its final destination.

This is just Korea and Japan and several European countries way of protecting their domestic mail carrier.

Yes, I ordered some stuff from Ebay. I do not know at what point it was lost, as there was no history. I ordered 2 boxes of items and they never arrived. To this day, I have no idea what happened to the items. Maybe the wife of some custom official may be wearing a dress I bought to wear on my honeymoon. Mad
