I just got my new and old passport back from the US Embassy after renewing it by courier service (Hanjin). It took exactly 2 weeks and one day. I followed the directions on the Embassy website, downloaded the form, etc. The hardest part for me was getting the $US 110 money order from KEB or Citibank as they don't have either in my town. Otherwise smooth and painless.
