I'd recommend the Seoul National University International Clinic next to Hyehwa Station on line 4. Fast, efficient and not too expensive. |
Yup this place is great. Yonsei University has a great foreign clinic as well that has some drop in hours on Saturday morning.
Medical care - much like everything else in Itaewon - is a horrible ripoff. Why anyone goes there for anything at all completely baffles me. |

Yup! I triple that! In winter 2009 - spring 2010 when I was basically going deaf, but later miraculously recovered, Seoul National University International Clinic next to Hyehwa did what they could for me, especially considering that I was working in Korea without a proper visa. (However, the reasons for that were more due to mismanagement and deep misfortune than any personal decision to break any laws. At that time, I had traveled to Japan to get my visa just to find out that I couldn't get it there.) Nonetheless, considering the circumstances, they could have denied me service or reported me. Instead, they did their best to give me proper medical care including high-dose steroid medication as well as access to their top docs. Most importantly, not only were the prices beyond reasonable, but they treated me like a real person, instead of some riffraff without a proper visa. That experience changed my life!
Not only that, but I had to sit outside the doctor's office while people who've been horrendously deaf most of their lives screamed in pain, in frustration, in lonelieness. and I had to sit there by myself, feeling myself trapped and going deaf, without friends, wondering what would come of it all. luckily, I recovered... but I always want to reach out to people, if possible. The kindness of their front office in dealing with foreigners was part of the healing process. |

Actually you would be unlucky if any doctor in a developed country like Korea reported you in that circumstance, so that is not any major plus on their behalf. Doctors pride themselves on treating anyone they can without fear or threat.
It is only logical that if you are feeling seriously ill you go to a larger hospital. That is why they have SPECIALISTS and that is what they are paid for.
A clinic is for things that are non-emergency and involve ongoing visits such as prescribing medicine.
International Clinic's prices may be high to some, but to those who get good service there it is not a problem. It is a private clinic. It is there to make money. |

I really loved this guy. I thought he was very thoughtful and considerate; as well patience and explanatory. However i do think his prices were a bit high . 50,000 WON FOR consultation and 36,000 for meds. Can anyone tell me of another foreign clinic thats cheaper? Thanks! |

I went to Dr. Kim for about 12 years and found him to be mostly helpful. I would just let himknow that I wanted inexpensive treatment solutions and he typically complied. What I liked was that he would xo lab tests to find out if an illness was viral or bacterial. (Many other doctors just took uneducated guesses.)
Overall, he was awesome, but I understand why some might not like him. |
