Vietnam is considered one of the safest countries to travel by the US state department.
Having spent 2 months there I can say without a doubt it was the safest place I have ever been.
I did witness some randoms drunk fights, but any violence among foreigners is extremely rare and is usually under shady circumstances.
Petty theft is common though, but not the violent type. More like the walk away and something is missing from your table. |

what my wife's office has been told was he got on a moto taxi from the airport and another bike came up to him and tried to rob him of his stuff, he resisted and was stabbed.
think the big lesson is if you are being robbed dont resist, stuff can be replaced your life cant |
