If you did and the landlord did nothing, then you should be in the clear money wise.

They definitely knew about the leak(s). The pipes in the storage room blew out several times last winter and I promptly informed them every time. All fixes were just temporary though. They've known about the small leak in the spare bedroom for months. The one I didn't bother to mention is in the main bedroom and doesn't seem to be connected to the big blow. This time it was the storage room again and something in the wall next to the bathroom.

I peeked when they were taking a break from pumping today and there is a gigantic hole underneath the basement.

I went out and when I came home all the doors were wide open and the cats were unsecured. Shocked Jesus. They could have just wandered out onto the street and gotten lost.

Looking at a different place tomorrow but still trying to decide if it's worth moving when I'm leaving for good in six weeks.

Update: I've vacated the apartment. By the time I finally left the mold was really really bad and growing on every single thing in the apartment but I got my key money back in full!

I'm staying in a goshiwon for my last week in Korea. It feels positively luxurious in comparison.

Look on the bright side - in a couple of weeks you'll have an ice rink in your apt!

Or if someone ever eventually redoes Titanic.....with this kind of realdeal experience you could make it as an extra.

No. I thought about it but decided the shame was too great. It was bad enough having people come in when I was selling/giving away my stuff.
