| Switch to KEB. I don't like ShinHan. I used to have them, and I don't find them good for foreigners. |

Hope ya find a solution though. |

I usually send money home in $5000-$10,000 chunks once or twice a year, so I don't really worry about transfer fees. |

Needless to say, I'll be switching to KEB next week.
As for sending such a small amount home every month...
I have a small student loan that needs a monthly payment and factoring in my C.O.L expenses, I can only afford to send a certain amount home each month.
Yes, I know it sucks. |

I don't mean to be rude, but that would seem to imply that you are spending 93% or more of your salary every month with the leftover 7% or less then getting sent home. I just find that hard to fathom. |

If you MUST know, I pay extra money to live in a nicer apartment and have other expenses here(smart phone) blah, blah.
And yes, I spend most/all of my money each month. I'm not here to save money. |

I don't want them to get drunk, but it's a very fine chardonnay they're not drinking. |

I was just about to post a similar topic when I found this thread. I'm using Shinhahn bank too, and I send money home to Chase bank. For the last two transfers I did, I noticed $20 missing from both of them when it appeared State side.
Here is a total of the fees I had to pay sending money home a few days ago.
I send 350,000 Won home.
Shinhan charges me 18,000 Won
My Shinhahn receipt says I will be sending $289 home.
When I check my Chase account it says $269 has been deposited.
My bank charges me $15 for the international transfer.
So overall I'm losing about $50 every time I send money home. At first I thought my American bank account was taking the missing $20. I guess it is time to switch Korean banks. |

| Someone really needs to start a payday loan shark business to help all these people wiring home a few hundred thousand at a time. Yes, the banks are screwing you. But it's hard to feel sorry for people who make it so easy for them. |

Exactly. I went with my friend(korean) and she told me that they send it to ANOTHER Shinhan bank in the US and they take money as well? I'm going to KEB sometime this week to open an account. All of last year I never noticed this discrepancy(why I've kept the account). It would be interesting to hear the explanation they give to you if you ask where the money went. |
