I heard the new quarantine requirements had been pushed back a year to Dec 2012. Don't have the link handy, but google will get it for you. Be careful of winter black out dates as some airlines may not allow you to take dogs for 6 weeks or so of the coldest weather.
Can confirm what the others said about dogs here. 50% of people we meet are absolutely terrified of our *maltese* . The other 50% absolutely adore him. They'll look at your dog as an absolute monster.
They may say it's fine re: the apartment and such now, but all it'll take is a couple of complaints and the dog at least will be asked to move by apartment security. |

No way. I just looked up the NVQRS website, it has been pushed to December 2012. Do you know how expensive a rabies blood titre is? I do.
At least I have it done, I guess. It's good for 24 months. |

Yep some Koreans will balk at big dogs. I saw a college girl scream/whine and hide behind her boyfriend, yesterday. She had went in a local bar, whose owner has a big golden lab that is around sometimes. This dog is the classic big puppy, does not even look vicious. Yes she was all scared of it.
I have seen a Korean or person or two scared of my cats. I mean cats are easy you do not like, kick at them, they run away.
Heck I have seen some act freaked out over hamsters and mice.
Even smaller - moths and houseflies! Hey I am a pansy enough to admit the chicada/grasshopper guys here in Korea give me the willies and I might squeak out a shreak if surprised. Some kids here and adults too are just not acclimatized to animals. |

| I know it might be hard, but I would leave it at home. Is it really fair to have a big dog like that to not have anywhere to run, or be stuck in a tiny box of a house all day? |

I don't understand why people are telling the OP s/he won't be able to take the dog on the subway and bus. From what I understand, if a dog is crated, they are allowed on. Follow that regulation and anyone who objects won't have a leg to stand on.
A few weeks ago a girl complained quite loudly that I was bringing my bicycle on the subway. I guess she didn't think I understood her, because when I replied with "일요일 이니까 탈수있어요" along with a long stare, she looked pretty shocked. |
