lol at all the people saying "just get married"

To me, that's not something you just up and do.

I concur. Of course, having the F-2 visa is handy for doing your own private teaching but there seems to be quite a few horror stories among expats who've married women in Korea. Yes, I'm sure you're into her now but what happens down the road? And people do change, as many will attest to.

All I can say is good luck to the OP in whatever he does.

All I've heard are the extremes in either direction. Either people marry a Korean and it's the best thing that ever happened to them. They make tons of money, have kids, get a big house, inlaws that love them like their own. I could see the appeal if that was the only story I heard

However I'd heard the flipside a lot too. A wife that spends every dime, kids that are teased at school and act out at home, inlaws that hate having a foreinger son-in-law, depression over being locked down here, sex-less marriage, eventually divorce and the horrors that come with that.

I haven't heard of anyone just in the happy middle, though I'm sure they exist. Either way, it's enough that if I were ever on the fence about a girl, I'd probably opt out. Besides, I have a mandatory "live together" policy before I even start looking at rings. If we can't live together happily and tolerate each other for at least a year, then a lifetime sure as heck ain't gonna happen. And once married, I have no plans for divorce. I'll be damned if some woman is going to take half my earnings, take my kids away from me, live fat on the hog, while nailing some dude on the side, all the while I'm slaving away, middle aged, fat, balding, and paying street walkers for bjs in the parking lot. To hell with that. Give me my studio apartment, pizza and beer weekends, different gf every 3 or 4 months, and yearly month long vacations in Thailand any day over that. Any day, my friend. Any day.
