The Ghana Black chocolate that you can get at HomePlus or other places (I know you said not these types of places) it comes in individual nice wrappers in a nice case and they're perfect snack size, or to have in case of a migraine which use them to help from time to time.

My palate for chocolate is definitely lacking in comparison to other fine foods/drinks but I've got to say that Ghana is the worst stuff I've ever had.

The best I have found in Korea (and I am a HUGE chocolate snob):

For hot chocolate (or truffles, they have those too): Cacaoboom 카카오봄 in Hongdae area. I know the English pronunciation is different from the Hangeul one, so I put both... that's the way they spell them. Don't know why.

For bars: You can get bars of chocolate from Michel Cluizel in either 70%, 85%, or their origines taster set (sadly, not whole bars of the origine stuff) or also some limited flavoured ones, such as orange, I think. You can get them sometimes at Sinsegae stores, or otherwise at www.frenchshop.co.kr

Now Godiva isn't actually really very good quality, so if you're only looking for that quality, then it shouldn't be that hard. But I'd recommend Cacaoboom. Mostly I have their hot chocolate (I usually get the maracaibo, the chili one or the strong from their hot chocolate choices) when I go rather than their truffles, but I've tried a few truffles and they were good. Some I liked better than others, but that's always the case, right?

(really? Green and Black? I mean it's okay, but.. and then GHANA BLACK? I will give you only that it is better quality than Hershey's. But not even at the level of Godiva, which is not particularly high.)

Some comments-

1) Like I said, I can't handle a full bar, but those green and blacks do seem appealing. Like I said, might not be right for serving at a stop by the office desk, but they seem like a great gift and I will surely be enjoying 1/4 of a bar of those. I ain't snobbish enough to bad mouth a chocolate just because it is in bar form.

2) Thank you Madoka for getting to the essence of what I was looking for- A boxed set that isn't Russell Stovers and I can have the occasional piece and serve to people.

3) Thanks to all of those who have mentioned local chocolatiers that I will look into on the next junket up to Seoul.

6) To those who recommended mail order back home, I love you and hate you. Love you for pointing out good chocolates. Hate you for getting my hopes up and seeing shipping rates and judging it outside of practicability. 85,000 for a 10 piece assortment might be worth it for the right occasion, but for a business-casual box, its a shade too much.

7) Ghana? Really? Chocolate is like beer. You have you Milwaukee's Best (Bad cheap), PBR (Good cheap), Bud, Boddington's (In the US), Good Microbrew, Upscale, elite, and then exclusive. Looking for the Boddington's-Microbrew of chocolate

Godiva is crap. Only mentioned for price point. Like saying Heineken. Heineken is crap, but people get it when you say you're looking for something "Heineken level"

9) I guess I should amend things to mail order in Korea. $45 in shipping is a bottle of cologne I could sample otherwise.

I had the opportunity to try Royce chocolates while I was in Malaysia and they are absolutely amazing.
