I haven't tried it, but I've heard good things about Gringos Korea's chorizo. They have a facebook page.

| Haddon House carries chorizo, as well as some of the big hotel delis. Expect to pay a bit for it. |

Had a nice block of Edam from Seomyeong Lotte dpt store last week. 300g for 11k, not a bad deal (5x what would pay back in blighty, but still...) They had some sliced chorizzo too but the prices were insane, no way I could justify like 15k for 100g. They also had some gorgonzola but again - 125g for 12k? No way joze.
And sucker that I am, I believed that once the US and EU fta's went through prices would drop.... |

I had to order hamburger buns of all things online because the grocery store didn't have them. I have very low culinary expectations of Korea
On the other hand, I found romaine hearts for the first time in forever at Costco. Second time I saw those in a year. The first was at Shinsegae, and I paid through the nose for it. |

Emart is hit or miss. They often have 6 packs of hamburger or hot dog buns, but every now and then they are totally sold out.
Costco's hamburger buns come in an 18 count same as the burgers so at least there if you're getting them, they'll match and you won't be left with an odd number. |

This is true of a lot of things at EMart, not all of which are explicitly Western goods. For example, plain Denmark yogurt is only in stock about 50% of the time at my local EMart. They have, at times, run out of whole chickens. Also, while I realize butter is kind of a foreign good, it's kind of a crazy thing to run out of, considering its shelf life. I thought the whole point of supermarkets was consistent supply? |

Buns are the reason I can't have the turkey burgers from Costco that are sitting in the freezer. What the hell was I thinking, not buying buns to go with them? |

| Beer selection can change on a whim in Korea. I remember convenience stores carrying the Italian beer Morretti then it disappeared, not to mention other foreign beers that stayed on the shelves for a week or two then POOF! |

What Korea needs is a place like we have here in Shanghai; on the expensive side, but you can find lots of comfort food. There are many locations and they deliver for free.

I do miss Costco in Korea even though a lot of the things that I went there for over the years would disappear and never return. We have a Sam's Club in Shanghai, but it is no better for food/drink options than the local large supermarkets...ie, Carrefour, Tesco, Lotus, Century Mart, and yes, Emart is even here carrying some western goods. |
